A Hero Story - The Overcomers

Playboy was my gateway into full blown pornography addiction. My dad had a Playboy left out at age 5, and it’s affected almost every choice I made for the rest of my life,” West explained to Lowe. “From age 5, to now having to kick the habit. And it just presents itself in the open, like it’s OK. And I standup and say, you know, it’s not OK.”

Chris Rock Says “NO” to Porn

While comedian Chris Rock used to joke that his porn addiction caused him to be 15 minutes late everywhere he went, he finally realized it wasn’t funny. Pornography negatively affected his relationship with his ex-wife to the point of adultery and many other ways that caused the end of his 16 year marriage.

Russell Brand used to call himself an "obsessed" porn consumer. Not anymore. He’s an advocate for changing the narrative. "Our attitudes toward sex have become warped and perverted and have deviated from its true function as an expression of love and a means for procreating," Brand declares in the video. Yeah, Russell Brand. How awesome is that? We can thank Russell for powerfully sharing his story of what he says ruined his chance at a happy marriage and affected his ability to relate to women.

“I remember he pulled out this magazine full of hardcore pornography, and I remember he would just sit and look at it and stare at it. And he just talked about these women and then, when he was done, he would turn, and look at me, and be like, ‘Now we’re going to do this.’ It just led to him raping me more, more than he already did, which was a lot …I can’t say that he would not have gone out and kidnapped me had he not looked at pornography. All I know is that pornography made my living hell worse.

“I would say that I was addicted. Even when I yeah…hell yeah. 100%, I’ll give you a story. I’ll give you just an example. Um, say like in the NBA, if you late, you just get fined. No big deal, not going to beat you in the head about it. Whatever. There’s been times where I know damn well the bus is at 10:30, why would I choose to watch porn at 10:28?” Odom told the Consider Before Consuming Podcast.

Porn “destroyed my brain.” That’s how pop sensation Billie Eilish describes what happened to her she began watching porn at the age of 11, while still in elementary school.

Eilish said, “As a woman, I think porn is a disgrace.” As she described watching more graphic content, she felt it warped her ideas about sex and relationships. The singer said, “I think it really destroyed my brain and I feel incredibly devastated that I was exposed to so much porn.”

As more and more young girls and women struggle with pornography addiction, Eilish stated, “It got to a point where I couldn’t watch anything else unless it was violent, I didn’t think it was attractive,” she confessed.

Describing how she was a virgin who had “never done anything,” porn use led to problems in her sexual relationships, including her not saying no to things she thought she was supposed to be attracted to. Watching BDSM porn caused her to suffer from night terrors and sleep paralysis.

Eilish also slammed the porn industry for creating unrealistic expectations of women’s bodies saying, “I’m so angry that porn is so loved…And I’m so angry at myself for thinking that it was OK.”
