Purpose and Integrity

I just learned about a group of incredible male college students.

What’s so awesome about that?

These supermen choose to create structure of accountability so they can live lives of purpose and integrity. Oh, and….they are intentional on overcoming their toxic habit of pornography addiction as well as the dehumanization to which it’s married.

Smart men!

They’ve decided there are a few key obstacles on their quest to becoming the men they are created to be. Familiar with the data and personal stories, they know the downsides of pornography and they are opting out in brotherly accountability so they can choose healthy sexuality.

Broken relationships and addiction? Been there.

Depression and mental upheaval? Done that.

But, these are guys in their sexual prime! How on earth do they keep themselves and each other accountable?

Using the K.I.S.S. method of keeping it simple, stupid.

The Undercover Chore Chart: With a plainly seen whiteboard and a marker, they check in with a “V” for Victorious or an “X” that indicates they missed the mark that day. Clearly seen by the men in the house and every guest who enters their space, these leaders not only check in on their brothers in arms, but they invite critical, open, honest, and normal conversations with one another and with the group.

Now, that’s commitment!

No secrecy, shame, and isolation. When men meet other men with love, encouragement, care, and affirmation instead of judgment, fear, and shame, it changes things. This type of authenticity and grace invites empathy and connection with the foundational truth that yes, we will struggle. And, yes, we can overcome when we tackle this truthfully… together.

You’ll see a normal bunch of men - a community - future leaders of society and in homes - setting the standard for what right looks like. Their commitment to ending the havoc by placing high value on people on both sides of the pornography.

And, when the men leave this community, they are more likely to carry these healthy habits into new living environments wherever they go from there.

To light a path out of the darkness, they cool dudes are showing the importance a simple path. 1. Personal responsibility. 2. Watchmen on our walls. No man is an island. 3. To combat the community and societal dangers lurking online, we need each other. Our brotherhood or sisterhood in arms.

This is a battle and as we learn in the great military strategists of all times, when we are fighting alone, we are weak and it’s easier for the enemy to take us out.

In this case, the enemy is pornography. These guys figured out they don’t have to be slaves anymore.
